The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio hosted its annual continuing education seminar for professional advisors on Wednesday, May 7th at the Longaberger Golf Club. The seminar was a wonderful opportunity to network with colleagues, enjoy an afternoon round of golf and earn continuing education credits while learning more about the differences and advantages to community foundations vs. private foundations, current developments in the laws that impact charities and donors, an overview of IRS requirements as well as charitable tools and techniques such as charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and qualified conservation easements. A number of case studies were also highlighted, including the success of the Guernsey County Foundation. The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio was pleased to continue the tradition of offering this opportunity to Ohio’s attorneys, CPAs, insurance agents and other financial and professional advisors.
Speakers: The Foundation was very lucky to have Maribeth Wright, CPA, from Rea & Associates join Bricker & Eckler's Gordon Litt and John Furniss, III as our seminar speakers. For more information about our speakers, please read their full biographies.
